Philips AVENT Electric Steam Sterilizer - Perfect for sterilizing AVENT baby bottles

Washing, cleaning, and sterilizing bottles is one of the real chores in raising a newborn. At times it seems like we spend more time at the sink than we do actually holding our baby. The Philips AVENT Sterilizer can make this chore a bit easier. While there are certainly things that I like about this sterilizer there are other attributes that really limit how often (and long) we can use this product

**** This sterilizer will warp sippy cups*****
***** We have difficulty/ it is impossible to use with large bottles*****

The first attribute is not the fault of Philips, since the sterilizer produces steam in semi-pressurize environment it accidently melts/warps some plastic items. I mentioned sippy cups, but it also melted a new coffee thermos that I wanted sterilized.

The second point doesn't make much sense, but Dr. Brown's BPA Free Polypropylene Bottle, 3 Pack, 8 oz are too big to be used in this sterilizer. This is a bit of a head-scratcher as to why they made a device that is about 1/2" too short to accommodate a very common type of bottle.

A few other notes

- Very, very easy to use and set-up. Grandma will have no problem learning how to use this sterilizer
- Takes up a lot of counter space - more than a standard coffee maker.
- Be careful with placement, the exiting steam may ruin your wood cabinets
- The directions are poor, and while it is easy to set-up it would be nice if the directions demonstrated how everything fits together.

Final verdict - This is a great product for parents with children less than 6 months, however it quickly becomes obsolete as your child moves into bigger bottles and sippy cups.
